The Club Championships are scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 25, with all finals to be played the weekend of March 23, 24 and 25. This encompasses ALL events, including Handicap Mixed and Plate Draws. It is critically important that all first round matches are completed by Friday, March 3 and subsequent rounds completed in a timely manner according to the schedule outlined. The Competition Committee will make every attempt to accommodate unforeseen circumstances but we ask that players make every effort to put aside the necessary time to play their matches within the designated schedule. Completion dates for each round are posted on the draw for each event.
All entries must be received by 6pm, Sunday, February 19th. $12 per player/per event. Entry fees will be posted to each member’s account. No player may enter more than three events. Gentlemen’s Singles Ladies’ Singles Gentlemen’s Doubles Ladies’ Doubles Mixed Doubles Handicap Mixed Doubles All matches are best two out of of three tiebreak sets, regular scoring with a 7-point tiebreak at 6-all in each set. Except for the Handicap Mixed Doubles, there will be a Plate Draw for each Main Draw event for which there are at least 8 entries. Except for the Handicap Mixed Doubles, each player/team is guaranteed at least two matches. Entry into the Plate Draws are determined by a 1st or 2nd match loss through the quarterfinals. This means that if a player/team loses his/her 1st OR 2nd match through the quarterfinals of the Main Draw, they will be placed into the Plate Draw. If there are an insufficient number of entries for any event, the event may be cancelled by the Competition Committee. The draw will be posted at the club, emailed to all members and posted to the tournament website by 7pm, Tuesday, February 21st. All matches are to be played at the Nassau Lawn Tennis Club courts. Please schedule your matches in two-hour increments, e.g., if you schedule a match to start at 10am, you should block out the court until 12 noon. Please inform the Competition Committee member responsible for administering your event of your scheduled matches so that information regarding scheduled matches and results can be sent to club members interested in watching. Please sign for courts on the schedules provided in the kitchen. Matches have priority over general play except on Tuesday evenings between 5pm and 8pm when only Court #1 will be available for matches. The club will supply one new can of balls for each match as part of the entry fee. Tennis balls are available in the kitchen. A 15 minute default rule will be enforced. Each match will have a 10-minute warm up. At the completion of your match, please call your result into the Competition Committee member responsible for administering your event immediately. Also post your result on the draw sheet at the club and look for your next opponent(s). If your next opponent(s) is decided, please call them as soon as possible to arrange your next match. If this is your first match or second match and you are on the unfortunate side of the result, please enter your name into the Plate Draw and look for your next opponent. Questions about the tournament may be addressed to members of the Competition Committee. |
Last, and most important ... have fun, enjoy yourself and play your games in an atmosphere that reflects the good sportsmanship and camaraderie of our club. Being the club we are, we know that any problems will be solved in a friendly way. If problems do arise needing resolution, please contact a member of the Competition Committee.
